Reading Adventures Week starts tomorrow

This coming week is Bluffsview’s Reading Adventures Week! The whole week will be filled with fun Reading Activities for the students.

2 important parts of the week to note for parents:

#1: Dress Like your Favorite Book Character is on Tuesday. There are a lot of inspirational ideas on Pinterest and the web. We hope you and your kids have fun planning this.

#2: The Camp-Out and Read-In is a celebration of reading with our Bluffsview families from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday. We are so excited to host your and your families for an evening of fun activities with a camp-out theme.

Volunteers needed for COSI on Wheels and Read-in

The PTA sponsors two special events in January, and we need your help to make them successful. Please consider signing to volunteer at one or both events on our PTA Sign Up Genius.

COSI on Wheels is on January 11 during the school day. COSI On Wheels introduces dynamic science topics to the entire school with a high-energy, 45-minute assembly followed by a day of hands-on activities that enhance science inquiry skills and encourage continued learning. We need 100 volunteers total for this school-day event.

The Read-in is on Thursday, January 25 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The Read-in a part of our annual Read-a-Thon, which runs from Friday, January 19-Friday, January 26. We need 20 volunteers total for this fun family event.

Take a sneak peek at the Holiday Gift Shop

The Holiday Gift Shop is now set up and ready for shoppers. Students will have the opportunity to shop the gift shop on their scheduled class day from December 12-December 14.

Every gift is inexpensive, with kid-friendly pricing ranging from 25 cents to $12. Help your child by making a shopping list and budget before their scheduled shopping day. All checks should be made payable to Bluffsview PTA.

Turkey Trot Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is our 11th annual TURKEY TROT!  We’re set to have a great time!  Students and staff will be trotting the bear path during relates arts, lunch, and recess periods.  Please send your child dressed in layers with hats and gloves so they stay warm and happy.
We are raising money for new trapeze jump equipment for the gym and two more Chromebook carts.  Our amazing trotters have provided so much technology for our classrooms and without you, we wouldn’t have these opportunities.  Let’s keep this going so every class can use the Chromebooks any time they’re needed!

Boys needed for Worthington Cotillion

It is not too late to sign up for this year’s Worthington Cotillion sessions for fifth and sixth grade students, which begin on Jan. 9. Typically, Bluffsview has a large number of students who participate, but they are always looking for more boys to sign up since they maintain a 1-1 boy-to-girl ratio. Many girls are waitlisted until more boys sign up!

Worthington Cotillion is a series of privately sponsored classes that offer young ladies and gentlemen the opportunity to foster confidence in their social graces. Dancing and associated etiquette are emphasized in a fun, comfortable atmosphere combining instruction and games to fifth and sixth grade students in Worthington and the surrounding communities.

The Cotillion Party, on the sixth week, is the culmination of the Cotillion season. Family members are invited and encouraged to attend. A highlight of the party is a special dance featuring the gentlemen dancing with their mothers and ladies dancing with their fathers. The Cotillion Party will be held at Villa Milano Banquet and Conference Center.

For more information, visit the Worthington Cotillion website.

6th grade fundraiser at Skate Zone

Please support our 6th grade class in their fundraising efforts by attending the Bluffsview School Skate Party on Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 6-8:30 p.m.

Every 6th grade class at Bluffsview raises money throughout the year to host a much deserved “graduation party” on the last day. In addition, they purchase one or more gifts for the school to be used by future students.
